Gift examples for a granny

Monday, December 28th, 2009

When Christmas is getting nearer, we know that the gift will get pilled up under granny’s Christmas tree…

Granny is a granny ! It is important that the kids give their granny a gift (maybe two or three ?).

Obviously, granny already has everything ! We need to use our imagination.

So if granny loves to cook, there is probably cooking tools or utensils that she could use to fill her collection or replace old ones she has.

Here are some other gift examples for a granny that will always please her :

  • a theme related crafting
  • a hand made card with a couple lottery tickets
  • a picture took at the child care
  • a magnate framed picture for her refrigerator

Why not a three generations family’s night out ?

Gift examples for an editor

Thursday, December 10th, 2009

I have a good friend, Catherine, witch is a great editor… So I ask her to suggest me a few gift examples for an editor. I leave you with her very interesting response…

As an editor, the first thing that come to my mind is two books that you need to give to those who doesn’t already have them :

1) “Le millepatte sur un nénufar” published at the Renouvo editions. This book includes all the new orthographical rules and the new way to write the words that the orthography changed.

All content editors (magazine, book and web) did not adopt the new orthography recommend since 2005 and we need to put the pressure on by giving our texts with that new orthography.

If all editors do it, the ones that are resisting will have to give up and do the same. Same thing in school, the teachers need to teach with that new orthography. This book is about 4,50$ and you can find it in all Archambault or Renaud-Bray stores.

Online, you can find a free list of all those words at this address :
users.skynet.be/Landroit/Renouvo/Liste.html.
To bookmarked absolutely !

2) “Le Ramat de la typograhphie”, a book that cannot be ignore, it’s the editor’s bible. The 9th edition got published on July 2nd 2008. This book cost 19,95$ in all Archambault and Renaud-Bray stores and online stores…

3) Obviously, Le Petit Robert is always a good choice

Furthermore, on an other hand, a housekeeper or housecleaner (that will do all the cleaning, cooking, repairing, washing, the dishes…) and even more if the affinities are there… That’s priceless and I don’t know if you can find one in store or online…

Thanks Catherine.

Gift examples for a visually handicapped person

Tuesday, December 1st, 2009

What can we give to a visually handicapped person ? This question seams simple and complicated all at once. Tough there is so many options. My friend Monique is a visually handicapped person and this doesn’t stop her from playing the organ.

Here are some gift examples for a visually handicapped person.

You can buy her a CD, all depending on the person personal taste, this is not an expensive gift and music is so beautiful !

There is even some books put on CD’s in bookstores like Archambault and Renaud-Bray.

A watch or a talking timer, witch is only about twenty dollars.

If the person likes to play games, there is many ones at the Institut Nazareth and Louis-Braille, located on 111 St-Charles Ouest in Longueil. Here are some game examples that you can find there: deck of cards, Scrabble, Crib, Black Diamond, checkers and many more…

You can also get many other suggestions by calling the Institute sales counter at the following number: (450) 463-1710, post 200.

There is also some talking visual display unit for the phone, witch are not very expensive. Of course, the visually handicapped person needs to subscribe to the visual unit display service.

Contrarily to the usual sayings, these people are very at ease with there computer. A lot of software are adapted for their conditions. You should see at what speed Monique travels on Windows and his applications !

Therefore, you can offer them accessories or technical gadgets for their computers (USB key, mp3 player, wireless mouse or keyboard, speakers for the computer, etc.)

Thank you Monique !
